Westlife – Ireland’s biggest boyband
Following in the footsteps of fellow Irishmen Boyzone, boyband Westlife dominated the UK charts in the ‘00s with a whole host of polished pop ballads. Catch the unstoppable group in action by purchasing your Westlife tickets on StubHub now.
Boyzone’s natural successors
The original Westlife line-up of Shane Filan, Mark Feehily, Kian Egan, Nicky Byrne, and Bryan McFadden first came together in Dublin in 1998 under the watchful eye of Boyzone manager Louis Walsh. The group made an immediate impact in the UK, with their debut single, "Swear It Again", hitting pole position in the spring of 1999. The boyband also entered at Number One with their next six releases – a record-breaking feat – and sold more than one million copies of their self-titled first studio effort. Westlife continued to dominate the British pop scene with "Coast to Coast" and "A World Of Our Own" before issuing the compilation "Unbreakable, Vol. 1" in 2002. Even the departure of McFadden in 2004 couldn’t halt their incredible run, with 2005’s "Face to Face" and 2006’s "The Love Album" both spawning chart-topping singles. The group called it a day in 2012 following a sell-out farewell tour, but reunited six years later for a series of shows and a belated 11th studio effort largely co-penned by Ed Sheeran: "Spectrum". 14 UK number one singles
With no less than 14 UK number one singles under their belt, Westlife certainly aren’t short of hits when it comes to their live shows. From originals such as "Flying Without Wings", "My Love" and "Queen of My Heart" to their cover versions of Barry Manilow’s "Mandy", Secret Garden’s "You Raise Me Up" and ABBA’s "I Have a Dream", the Westlife setlist is packed wall-to-wall with the kind of melodic pop ballads that the boyband built their reputation on. But alongside all the epic key changes and lighters-in-the-air moments, the reunited quartet also manage to get the crowd on their feet with up-tempo numbers such as "World of Our Own", "When You’re Looking Like That" and their rendition of Billy Joel’s "Uptown Girl", while performances of "Hello My Love" and "Better Man" prove that their newer material is just as infectious as their heyday anthems. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to see the reformed boyband live on stage once more and take a look at the various Westlife tickets currently available on StubHub.
