Before becoming a global superstar, Sting worked as a teacher and in the evenings he used to play at nightclubs with various local jazz bands. Sting then moved to London in 1977, and it was here he met Stewart Copeland and Henry Padovani and together they formed The Police. The rest, as they say, is history.
Yes, there’s no doubt that music is only a part of what makes Sting such a talented artist! His contribution not only lies in his songs but he has acted, dabbled in philanthropy and even activism! While his filmography can include a number of eighties titles such as Quadrophenia, Dune, The Bride, Julia and Julia, his last role as an actor was in the Guy Ritchie classic Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels. On the activist front, He has participated in Amnesty International’s gala “The Secret Policeman’s Other Ball”, and managed to round up a host of top musicians (Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Phill Collins, Bob Geldof) to perform alongside him with the group being dubbed The Secret Police! And this was just the beginning! So if you want to see one humanities finest examples, then look no further than Sting himself! Buy your Sting tickets now!
A St(r)ing of hits
Sting, either solo or with The Police, has had far too many hits to list here. Yet there are some that are impossible not to mention. Gaining fame in the 70s with The Police, their first major hit was ‘Roxanne’ taken from their debut album 'Outlandos d'Amour’. Success continued the following year with both ‘Message in a Bottle’ and ‘Walking on the Moon’ reaching the number one spot in the UK. Their biggest hit, arguably, was ‘Every Breath You Take’; often mistaken as a love song, in fact, it’s a song about obsession and surveillance. Sting’s solo career has been no less remarkable with ‘Fields of Gold’ and ‘Desert Rose’ gaining worldwide success. What are you waiting for? Get Sting concert tickets today.
