Million Dollar Quartet - Rock 'n' Roll magic
Pull on your blue suede shoes for an evening of rock ‘n’ roll magic. Million Dollar Quartet tickets from StubHub will take you back to the historic day in 1956 when four rock legends, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins, got together and recorded some of the best-loved songs from the ‘50s. Packed full of unforgettable tunes, thrilling dance routines and virtuoso performances, this high-energy show will have you dancing in the aisles. The December day when these four greats came together to make music at the tiny Sun Studio in Memphis, Tennessee, has been called the day that gave birth to rock and roll. Presley, Cash, Lewis and Perkins were in their early twenties at the time, and the four performers that portray them channel their raw energy and megawatt charisma to light up the stage.
Million Dollar Quarter background and history
The show’s music was arranged by Chuck Mead and the book was written by Floyd Mutrux and Colin Escott. The musical premiered in 2006 and came to Broadway in 2010, hitting London’s West End the year after. It was nominated for several Tony awards and won a Tony for best-featured actor. The actors who take on the roles of the four lead stars do all their own singing and music and do not mime to the original recordings. Over the years, several big stars have joined the cast on stage, including Lesley Gore, Ray Benson, Mellissa Etheridge and Jerry Lee Lewis himself.
