MGMT background
MGMT are Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser. Formed in 2002 when the duo were studying at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut, the band was initially known as Management and were known for making ironically poppy music in a manner somewhere between performance art and punk. In 2006, MGMT signed to Cantora Records and the next year they released the first MGMT album Oracular Spectacular. The album made a huge splash and enjoyed critical and commercial success, going platinum in the UK, Australia, USA, and Ireland. The MGMT single "Kids" was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance. The MGMT songs from this album were sampled and covered by some of the biggest artists in music, including Weezer, Katy Perry, Frank Ocean and Beyoncé. The next two MGMT albums were not as successful as the band's debut as they ventured into a different sound.
Thankfully for MGMT fans, the new album Little Dark Age sees the duo back to their brilliant best. Featuring singles like "Little Dark Age", "When You Die" and "Me and Michael", the new MGMT album has earned rave reviews. The Guardian says that the new album is 'unironically gorgeous...
