It may surprise you to find that the name actually comes from a pamphlet, written by a Californian senator, that read “The arsenal of megadeath can’t be rid no matter what the peace treaties come to.” A misspelling of “megadeath”, the name was chosen to encompass everything that Megadeth would come to represent! Despite examining around 15 different drummers, it would be a while before the band finally found its members. In the end, the lineup consisted of both Mustaine and Ellefson, former Slayer member Kerry King taking lead guitar, Gar Samuelson on drums and Chris Poland on guitars!
