This Lancaster-born comedian is reckoned to be one of the funniest guys on TV so get your Jon Richardson tickets from StubHub and catch him on his latest tour of the UK. While known for TV's 8 Out Of 10 Cats, live performing is what Jon Richardson lives for. This new tour showcases his sparklingly hilarious routines.
A life in comedy
Jon Richardson started his comedy career at the age of 19 but a tour with Alan Carr in 2006 provided his big break. His own show then earned him a Best Newcomer nomination at the Edinburgh Festival in 2007. Richardson moved on to the radio, co-hosting a BBC 6 music show with Russell Howard where he remained until 2010. Guest appearances on Have I Got News For You, David Mitchell's The Bubble and Live at the Apollo followed before Alan Carr gave him a guest spot on 8 Out of 10 Cats. He became a permanent face on the show in 2011.
While becoming a household name as one of the stars of 8 Out Of 10 Cats Jon Richardson was also fighting a battle against OCD. This left him housebound and lonely and certainly not leading the celebrity life. After meeting and marrying his wife, fellow comedian and sufferer Lucy Beaumont Richardson, Jon Richardson found the confidence to go public with his condition. It later proved to be a brave step that did no harm to his career and helped raised awareness of mental health issues.
Making a positive out of trouble
Richardson's OCD had its positive side, providing plenty of raw material while his quiet non-celebrity lifestyle left him plenty of time to hone his comic skills. In 2013 Richardson made a Channel 4 film, A Little Bit OCD which took a close look at his need for perfection. As well as reaching out to fellow sufferers the show helped him minimise his condition which is now more under control. This was followed in 2017 by a new Channel 4 documentary How to Survive the End of the World written by and starring Jon and Lucy.
Going hand in hand with his settled, happier outlook was a need for Richardson to adapt his routines. These had focused on the lifestyle of a neurotic singleton but now his sketches look outwards rather than inwards and his tour material ranges from Brexit to how to load a dishwasher. Come and see what this talented guy has to say about the state of the world with your Jon Richardson tickets from StubHub.
