Bastille members and background
Bastille consists of four guys, Daniel Smith (lead vocals), William Farquarson (guitar), Chris Wood (drums) and Kyle Simmons (keyboards). The band's name comes from singer Dan Smith's birthday, which is the same day as Bastille day. Formed in 2010, Bastille self-released an EP, Laura Palmer, and various singles before signing to Virgin Records. The band scored a breakthrough hit with "Flaws" in 2013, however, it was their song "Pompeii" which catapulted the band to stardom, paving the way for their debut album Bad Blood to top the charts in the UK, and chart strongly all over the world. Bastille then went on to perform at some of the biggest festivals worldwide, including a spot at Glastonbury.
Bastille released their second album in 2016. Like Bad Blood, Wild World topped the UK Albums chart and featured songs like "Good Grief", "Send Them Off" and "Fake It". Dan Smith and his band have sold over 10 million records worldwide already and with the imminent release of a new Bastille album this shows no sign of slowing down.
